Your guinea pig’s home
Guinea pigs are lovable animals and giving them the right hutch will make them much happiness and contentment. When you are planning to buy a hutch for your pet, there are several things that you have to take into consideration and here some of the things that you should bear in mind.
For us, the hutch is a place where we can provide them shelter against elements and other forces of nature. But for the guinea pigs, it is home. It is a place where they feel rested and safe. It is where they eat and play and therefore it is highly important that you give them a nice and wonderful home.
Searching for the perfect hutch requires lots of your time. It is vital that you get the right size for it because guinea pigs love to run around and they tend to get hot easily because of their fur. The hutch doesn’t need to be huge but enough for two guinea pigs to fit.
It is best that you select a hutch that don’t have wire floor because having such is dangerous to your pet. Your pet’s feet may be tangled it with and this can cause them injury. An ideal hutch is the one that is made of plastic floor that can be detached with access for easy cleaning and disposal of wastes. The hutch must be well built and needs to be sturdy to withstand the constant activity of the guinea pigs. They are active animals and they love to run around a lot.
The door of the hutch should allow your hands to get in so that you can easily arrange things and that you can feed them and clean the hutch more conveniently too.
In cases where you own two guinea pigs, you will therefore need a hutch that measure a half square feet and if you have one guinea pig, it should measure at least seven and half square feet. A bigger hutch would be fine as long as you have the budget for it and the space to where you will place it. Read the rest of this entry
